Before start doing yoga, it’s important to get to know some dos and don’ts.

Although, your yoga master will be there to guide you and he/she will modify the postures according to the stage of your pregnancy. During pregnancy it is recommended to select the yoga master who is trained in prenatal yoga and be make sure that to tell them that in which trimester you are(It is said that the best period to start yoga if you are new to it is the second trimester).

Some Guidelines/Precautions for Yoga during pregnancy

  • During the early stages of pregnancy, avoid yoga asanas that put pressure on the abdomen, do some standing yoga poses.
  • During the second and third trimester, start breathing exercises and meditation.
  • These yoga postures are unsafe during pregnancy.
  • Balancing on one leg.
  • Lying on your back after 16 weeks(can reduce blood flow to the uterus).
  • Forceful breaths.
  • Back bends.
  • Strong twists.
  • Strong stretches.
  • Lying on your tummy.
